After our cake delivery in Pawleys Island last month, Josh and I drove down to Charleston for a weekend getaway! Exploring Charleston for the first time was just what we needed during these crazy uncertain times of Covid. I was a little, okay… a lot hesitant to go at first, but I’m so glad we did! We both fell in love with the city!

We stayed at a charming little place called the French Quarter Inn. Let me say it was HEAVEN! The hotel staff were so friendly! They did an excellent job cleaning and sanitizing the rooms and lounge areas. I also brought my own cleaning products and gave our room and bathroom another wipe down once we arrived. A room can never be too clean, right?! If you are considering a Charleston getaway of your own, I can't recommend this place enough!

The Inn had complimentary breakfast delivered right to our room every morning which was really nice! We had our choice of a variety of items off the menu including pastries, fruit and granola. My favorite was the ham and cheddar biscuits (oh, and the coffee, of course)! Our room was a corner suite on the third floor with a balcony overlooking Church Street, which was perfect to enjoy our breakfast! The horse carriage tours ran just below too, so we enjoyed seeing them riding by. We decided exploring Charleston by foot was a bit safer at this time, but hopefully we will get to enjoy a carriage ride on our next trip.

First we walked around and enjoyed the beautiful sites including the Waterfront Park and the historic district. Every street we strolled down was so beautiful and pristine, and the homes were amazing! Even the Crepe Myrtle trees were showing off their blooms!

We decided against dining inside any restaurants, and opted for takeout instead. This was REALLY tough for us, because we are foodies at heart and there were so many restaurants we wanted to try. Our favorite stop for a quick bite for lunch was Carmella’s. Their Pimento BLT was so scrumptious, and we ended up going back more than once!

And of course, I couldn’t end our trip without a dessert stop at La Patisserie! This adorable little shop is located inside Charleston’s newest 5-star luxury hotel, Hotel Bennett. It definitely did not disappoint, and we will may be staying here on our next Charleston getaway!

On our last night, we saw the most amazing sunset while we were out on our evening walk. That lovely little stroll quickly turned into a full sprint for 6 blocks back to the Inn to outrun a storm, haha! It's a memory that we will never forget!
I can’t wait to plan our next trip back to this charming city again soon! It was perfect in every way, and there is still so much to explore in Charleston that we missed this trip!
