Hi loves! I thought it would be fun to share our Summer weddings with you!
While this has been a much slower Summer season than normal due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were fortunate enough to be able to deliver a few beautiful wedding cakes to some of our wonderful clients.
So here's a Summer wedding recap of what we've been up to!
After three months off, we started back in June with a wedding at Lavender Oaks Farm in Chapel Hill. The couple had an outdoor ceremony overlooking the lavender field!
The cake was displayed inside the barn on a large hanging cake table - it was beautiful! My clients chose a textured buttercream finish for their cake design. Less is more when it comes to design and this really was the perfect look for the venue. Don't you agree?
Here is their cake sketch along with the finished cake! I always love to gift my clients with these! It's such a fun way to visualize the cake before we actually design it. Meristem Floral provided us with some beautiful cake blooms too! I love their work - they are a husband and wife team too!
I couldn't leave without cutting a few lavender blooms to take back to the Cake Cottage. It smelled HEAVENLY!
Our next weekend began with two backyard intimate weddings. One in Clayton and one in Raleigh. I know it was a difficult decision and stressful for our clients to downsize their weddings at the last minute, but they sure did turn out beautiful.
Me posing with my client, Lauryn's mom - she's the best! We are looking forward to making their BIG cake for their wedding reception next summer!
And look at this adorable pup who was making her debut at our wedding back in Raleigh! Complete with her flower crown and all - isn't she just adorable?!
In July, we delivered this pastel blue beauty for Emily & Trey's wedding at the Sutherland. I love the soft watercolor detail combined with the texture, don't you?! And the florals from Bloomworks completed the Summer garden feel of this cake!
Next we traveled down to Pawley's Island, SC for Ashtyn and Chase's wedding. They wanted a cake design that would fit with the ballroom at the club, but also have a coastal feel. I loved the end result! Light and airy gold painted brush strokes with a touch of sparkle and flowers!
Our next weekend back in Raleigh was to the Merrimon-Wynne House for this elegant buttercream cake! Subtle angled texture with pearls to complete this look. This cake is a classic for sure!
Our last wedding of July was this AMAZING modern and stylish cake for Monica & Joe's wedding at the Umstead Hotel & Spa. She had to cut her guest count significantly at the last minute, but she said she had to have her big cake for her wedding! I couldn't agree more - it was GORGEOUS! How pretty are these flowers from Embellished Blooms?!
I hope you enjoyed the cakes I've shared from our Summer wedding recap! What style cake was your favorite? Hopefully I can share more soon!
xo,
Ashley
